The BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe is a blend of between 5, 6, and 7 Series cars. It's better in some key ways from both the latest 5 or 6 Series models - front, rear and profile views, for starters. Still, it's the 7 Series that comes off feeling like the most complete package for the segment it is meant to represent. At least, that is, for this current generation of large BMW cars.
2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe
Available in three models of the 640i Gran Coupe, powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-6 rated 315 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque that hits 0-62 in 5.4 seconds. The BMW Gran 650i Coupe and the all-wheel-drive 650i xDrive Gran Coupe, both models show a stronger variant of BMW's twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, 0-62 in 4.6 seconds less than either model. The third variant of the 6 Series Gran Coupe uses BMW's eight-speed automatic transmission, and all have a top speed limited to 155 mph.
The Gran Coupe 640i's six is a wonderful motivator. There's no turbo lag or peakiness. It supplies the urge when asked, sweeping imperiously through the rev band, never weakening for even an instant.
